James Ewald is a Principal UX Specialist at World Kinect with more than a decade of experience as a design lead, creative strategist, storyteller, educator, and team builder. His practice bridges thoughtful user experience with strong visual narratives, balancing strategy, craft, and collaboration.
James has taught undergraduate Graphic Design and Interaction Design studios, as well as graduate-level Design Research courses. He holds both a BFA and an MFA from Iowa State University, where his academic work explored sensory design and graphic novels as forms of visual storytelling.
Beyond his professional and academic work, James is a partner at The Cauldron Press, a small risograph print shop based in Oklahoma City. The Cauldron produces limited-edition art books that have been exhibited internationally. His personal work has recently been shown in China, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, Taiwan, and across the United States.
He also co-runs a two-person design studio Small Brains Design Co. in Oklahoma City, embracing the philosophy that thinking "small" can lead to smarter, more focused work. The studio specializes in branding, editorial design, environmental graphics, packaging, and website design.
